Your job is not who you are

When we were little, people used to ask us ‘what do you want to be when you grow up?’ and we used to say ‘a fireman’, ‘a teacher’, ‘an astronaut’ and so on. Where did we learn we had to answer that question with a profession?

I am a designer but I am also a reader, I am a traveller, I am a cook, I am lots of things that make up who I really am. I charge for the designer part (well, most of the time), but that doesn’t make it more important than the other parts.
