30 things i have learnt in 30 years

You will always miss your parents after they’re gone

When I was younger and more innocent my only experience with death was my grandpa’s death. I never knew any of my grandmothers and my father’s father died when I was very young. My grandpa died when I was 9 years old and it was a shock, however, as I grew older I started forgetting about him and I assumed that was the way people dealt with death, your mind slowly fades out the memories of the loved person until you don’t really miss them anymore.

But I was wrong. My mother died some years ago and there’s not a single day I don’t think about her. The day she died I understood that moment marked a milestone in my life and from that day on I had a wound that would never heal. I lost my innocence that day in a way I could have never imagined.
